Insulation FAQs
Why should my home be insulated?
The number one heat loss in any un-insulated home is through the walls. If you home was built prior to 1970, chances are that the walls have no insulation. Blown-in cellulose or fiberglass insulation can save thousands of dollars in fuel bills over the course of time.
What if my walls are already insulated?
If the walls are already insulated, Bruin will suggest additional insulation in the attic. Most experts agree that an attic should have an R-value of 30 or more.
What is R-value?
R-value is the term used to measure the flow of heat through an object or material. A higher number indicates that the object or material has a higher insulating capability.
What are the insulating materials that Bruin offers?
Bruin offers a loose fill fiberglass insulation or cellulose.
How does Bruin Access my walls?
Our trained installers know what they are doing. They'll carefully remove the exterior siding. Then they will drill 2 access holes approximately every 16 lengthwise and approximately every 4 feet section of wall height wise.. Next they place a probe into the cavity to check for obstructions. Next they blow insulation into the cavity filling it to capacity. When the cavity is full, they plug the hole and finally they re-attach the exterior siding.
How long does it typically take?
Usually 1-3 days depending on the size of the installation.
Can you insulate only in good weather? In New England, this means the summer months?
No, you can insulate any time of year.
